Hello! I have attached information for the 2016 trip to Walt Disney World in this e-mail. Please print it out and return the reservation form to me by February 1st. The students received a hardcopy of this the last week of school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Happy New Year! Mike Arthur ![]()
Symphonic Band - Private teacher forms are due no later than 2:30 on January 6th! They will NOT be accepted late!
Mike Arthur Can anyone go to Oates Flag Co. and pick up our pep band T-shirts? They are in J-Town. Their address is 10951 Electron Dr, Louisville, KY 40299 and phone is (502) 267-8200.
Also, the shirts are $10 each. If you haven't already paid for this, please be prepared to do that on Monday! Mike Arthur Due to projected rain, we may delay breaking down the lot til Jan 2. Please watch your email or Face book for a final announcement tomorrow morning or call/text Scott Pridemore or John Berkenbosch for the final decision.
Thanks Merry Christmas Eve all,
Just one last appeal for help on Dec 27 at 1:30 (ish) to take down the tree lot. If you have not yet confirmed with Scot or John that you can help out, please do so as soon as possible. Confirmed thus far are: - Darcy Elliott (and kids) - Elisa and Paul Suiter - Allen Knoerr - David Fraser - Mike Fulkerson - Scott and Matt Pridemore - John Berkenbosch Several of you indicated that Sunday was your preferred time but I'd like to hear back if that still works. We need about 12-15 people total and that should make light work. Thanks in advance for your help and have a VERY Merry Christmas. John and Scott TREE LOT BREAKDOWN
The masses have spoken and the overwhelming consensus is that the best time for us to tear down the tree lot is Sunday, Dec 27. Lets plan to meet at the lot around 1:30 which should give people time to get home from church, have lunch with family etc before coming to help. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours to get it all done. Please respond to this post or email me (john.berkenbosch@gmail.com) or Scott Pridemore (skmjpridemore@twc.com) so we know how many will be there (if you're responding for you and your child, please indicate that in the response). Ideally, we need 8-10 adults and 6-8 band kids. All help is appreciated but please consider that everything to be done that day will require at least moderate physical effort. Thanks in advance, John and Scott TREE LOT HELP - ONE MORE PLEA!!
Wish I could have sent this out last night but work got in the way. Wanted to make it official that the tree lot is now CLOSED for the season. A HUGE thank you to all the parents who chipped in to help - without you we would not have had the successful year we did again (final numbers to be calculated yet and should be available at either the January or February band parent meeting). The only thing we have left to do is tear down the lot and pack up the trailer. This is about a 2 hour job if we have 8-10 adults plus a few hard-working band kids. Traditionally, we have done this on the Saturday between Christmas and New Years Day BUT, this year that falls on Dec 26. Not only will that be a day that many of us will be (trying) to recover from what was (hopefully) a blessed Christmas day with family but it is also the U of L/UK basketball game (12PM tip-off). I see 3 options for doing this and would like to have anyone who was planning to help or is available to help weigh in on what works best for them. Once I have heard back and the majority weigh in, we can determine when we'll do this. Please look at the 3 potential proposed times below and either reply via Facebook (its posted there too) or send John (john.berkenbosch@gmail.com) or Scott Pridemore (skmjpridemore@twc.com) an email indicating which of the 3 times you are AVAILABLE (yes, you can choose more than one): 1) Saturday, Dec 26 at 9:00 AM (so we can be done before tipoff) 2) Saturday, Dec 26 at 3:00 PM (after the game - sober please!!) 3) Sunday, Dec 27 at 1:00-2:00 PM As with setup, the more hands, the quicker we'll be done. Thanks in advance, John and Scott TREE LOT HELP STILL NEEDED:
Calling all parents - we still need people to help with the tree lot this week and over the weekend. We have sold almost 2/3 of our inventory so we're on our way to another good year. If we can remain open by staffing the lot all week, we will hopefully be able to close on Sunday. The following shifts still need to be filled - PLEASE look at your schedules and sign up to help: Thursday, Dec 10 - 1 more adult. This is the EHS concert night so guard and 8th grade parents please consider working. If noone else signs up, we'll have to close early which loses potential sales. Friday, Dec 11 - need 2 or 3 adults. NO ONE is signed up here yet. We will NEED to be open to ensure maximal success. Sat, Dec 12 - we realize this is the day of All State auditions and ACT testing but we still need lot helpers too. NO ONE is signed up yet for either the 1:30-4:30 or 4:30-8:00 shifts. If we want to close the lot Sunday, we NEED staff on Saturday. As always, just click on the SignUp Genius link below - if it doesn't work, just copy and paste into your browser! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c084ca4ac22a02-20152 Thanks in advance for looking. One last push through this weekend and we can (hopefully) conclude another successful year! Scott and John Calling all tuba/euphonium players!
Mike Arthur Director of Bands Eastern High School 12400 Old Shelbyville Rd. Middletown, KY 40243 502-485-8383 www.easternbands.org There have been a few emails sent to me asking about TUBACHRISTMAS from band directors around the state. This is a gathering of Tuba and Euphonium players (trombone players have been known to sneak in) to get together and perform simple arrangements of Christmas music for the public. Louisville and Lexington each have one on December 12th and Newport is the 19th. There is no actual sign-up until the registration that day. Where to go and times for rehearsals etc... can be found on the www.tubachristmas.com website. Click on "Where is TUBACHRSITMAS" and select KY from the drop down menu. Anyone wanting to participate will need to bring $10 for registration and can buy a book on the website or at the venue if available. |
